- Which ones don't??? I have not seen any. (except RPI).

- Our Supras here often get around 3200cps on 28.8 connects on maximum
- compression ZIP files. The lines not on our modem bank are not the same
- quality (some were run underground from the house next door, with the
- sprinklers), and these still get over 3100cps if I change the S191 so it
- connects at 28.8K. Most likely, the modems you are connecting to are
- USR's. In that case, you can't use the 256 or 512 byte packets and
- obviously can't receive the data faster than the other modem sends it.
- Keep in mind, it takes more of the modems CPU power to compress than it
- does to decompress - what rate to you get if you send in the other
- direction?
-
- Try this (yes I know it is NOT representative of typical data transfers):
- Make a .BMP file of all one color (the white default in most programs
- works great). The both the Supra and the PPI will send it faster locked
- at 7200bps than the USR does at 28.8 or even 33.6.
